Weather Turning Colder
October is almost over, and fall is definitely here! As the weather has now turned colder, please ensure your child is properly dressed for the season. Uniform shorts are no longer allowed as we have passed October 15. Additionally, coats and jackets for recess are strongly encouraged. Please note that when our students go out for recess at 11:20, the weather has not reached its forecasted high temperatures for the day!

First Quarter Report Cards — Online Only
This Friday, October 25, marks the end of the first quarter. Due to our recent parent/teacher conferences, we will not be printing and sending home first quarter report cards. These will be made available through Infinite Campus shortly after the quarter ends. If you have not accessed Infinite Campus online or are having difficulties accessing your student’s information through Infinite Campus, please contact us so we can assist you in gaining access to this important information.

Day of Sharing – Nov. 14 – Date Change
Please note the date change! We will celebrate our Day of Sharing on Thursday, November 14 this year. The previously scheduled date (Wednesday November 13) conflicted with a middle school event. This year we are partnering with neighboring organizations such as Kids Food Basket and St. Vincent de Paul Center in order to give back during this holiday season! If you are interested in volunteering with us that morning, please contact the office.

No School – Friday Oct. 25
This is just a reminder that there will be NO SCHOOL for students this Friday, October 25. Teachers will be in the building for professional development!

Día de los Muertos Ofrenda
Thank you to our Madrinas (a group of involved Hispanic mothers) for constructing a beautiful ofrenda, or altar, to celebrate and commemorate the Day of the Dead celebration. This Mexican tradition is a beautiful combination of the Catholic feast of All Souls Day and ancient Aztec traditions. The celebration begins on October 31 and culminates on November 2, All Souls Day. Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos, is a time of remembrance and celebration of the lives of loved ones who have passed. Should you wish to include a deceased loved one in our collective remembrance, you may send a small photo to school with your child and it will be placed on the altar. Please label the photo with your child’s name so it may be returned to you!
