The “Swanky” Report 8/22/2019

August 22, 2019

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I’m so excited for this year! I hope you all had fun at the ice cream social yesterday! I know I had an AMAZING time meeting all of our families and students!

Who is Mrs. Swank?

Each of you have probably already received your letter in the mail introducing all of the Preschool staff! I’m absolutely thrilled to be back at Corpus Christi this year… only now I’m on the other side of the desk as a teacher! I attended Corpus Christi when it opened in 1999 as a 3rd Grader and it’s an absolute blessing to come full circle! Before coming to CCCS, I was a full-time stay-at-home mom to our 2 babies, Bryan and Kennedy!

In the past, I was an English Language (EL) teacher for 2nd-5th Graders at Excel Charter Academy in Grand Rapids. I attended the University of St. Thomas (Houston, TX) and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Communication in 2012 (thinking I was going to become a journalist…that didn’t really last long)! I fell in love with working with kids and began my teaching career as a 4’s Preschool teacher and continued on as a 4th Grade teacher and later Kindergarten, before relocating back to Holland with my family.

2019-2020 School Year…HERE WE GO!

A lot of new experiences for your student are coming! It may (or may not be) the first time they are in a school setting and I know that it can be filled with a lot of emotions! I can’t wait to get to know each child as they learn more about themselves and what they’re capable of learning and doing! I am completely open to discuss your family’s goals and concerns for the year! You can reach me by email to discuss anything that may be on your mind or your child’s mind. As the year progresses, we can definitely have a discussion about meeting in person if that works for you too!

Birthday treats are welcomed and encouraged! I only ask that for allergy concerns to please avoid anything with nuts …and here’s the kicker… cinnamon (I know it’s a weird request, but I’m allergic so in order for me to help serve our children the treat, it’s best to avoid this ingredient if possible).

Preschool Orientation

Next week we begin preschool orientations! I’m looking forward to seeing each of you there as we kickoff the preschool year and learn more about how this year will go! It’s going to be an INCREDIBLE year! I hope you all are excited as I am!

Feel free to send me an email if you have any questions! See you all next week!
