Third Grade Update March 6th

Thursday is dress as your favorite book character day. On Thursday afternoon, we will be doing an experiment with the fourth and fifth graders as we celebrate Pi day. There is no school on Friday due to it being a teacher in-service day. Enjoy the day! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Religion: This week we will learn about Jesus’ Baptism and the symbols that are used in Baptism today.

Language Arts: This week we will be reading the story Hottest, Coldest, Highest, Deepest. This is a nonfiction story about some of the unique places on Earth. In grammar, we will be working on subject and object pronouns. Our comprehension skill for the week will be looking at graphic sources, such as maps, charts, pictures, and graphs.

Spelling: This week in spelling we will be learning about r-controlled vowels. The words for this week are third, early, world, certain, dirty, herself, earth, word, perfect, verb, nerve, worm, thirsty, workout, and earn.

Math: We will be learning how to find elapsed time. Students may be bringing home a clock with them to help with their homework. Please make sure these are returned to school each day as we will need them for the lessons as well. Please continue to practice math facts for 5-10 minutes a day.

Social Studies: We will continue learning about how Michigan grew as a state. We will learn about the Great Depression and its impact on businesses in Michigan.

Science: Due to the short week, we will not have science.
