March equals Reading

Reading Contest: This week the theme is Reading with family, if you take a picture of your child reading, send it to Katie Dishinger at  your child will be in a drawing for a Barnes & Noble Gift Card.

We are looking for guest readers, if you would like to read to Kindergarten, please let me know so we can arrange a time that works for you and us. Fr. Kyle read to us this week.

Religion:  This week we learned that  the seasons of the Church relate to Jesus’ life.  We compared the Church Seasons to the seasons of Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter and what we can do in each season   We are in the Church season of Lent. We attended Ash Wednesday Mass and then drew a picture of what our ashes look like.

Reading:  Our story this week is My Lucky Day.  We saw the character the pig and how he tricked the fox into not eating him. Our letter this week is Ll, we used letter Ll at the beginning and ending sounds in words. Our sight words: that, are, do.  We read Lad and Me. We learned more about sentences with the action part of the sentence.

Math:  Numbers 20 and beyond. We counted objects up to 20, we used ten frames to count and write numbers.  We put numbers in sequence order from 1 to 20.

Science: We are beginning a unit on the Weather. This week we read It Looked Like Spilt Milk to see all the shapes you can see in the clouds.  We then made our own picture of clouds by using white paint, and writing what our cloud looks like.

STREAM:  We read Bartholomew and the Oobleck, We made oobleck with corn starch, water and green food coloring. We found that it changed from a liquid to a solid and was squishy on our hands.  We read Horton Hatches the Egg.  We built a nest out of a variety of materials (popsicle sticks, yarn, straw, paper towel rolls..) to see if our plastic egg would be protected from something heavy.
