March Kindergarten News

Remember there is no school tomorrow, Friday, March 13, 2020.  Enjoy your 3 day weekend.

Reading:  If You Could Go To Antarctica was our story this week in which we learned that the only people that live there are scientists.  We learned about icebergs, continents, penguins, whales and seals from reading the story.  Our letter this week is Ee  which we used as the beginning and middle sounds of words.  Our sight words are: from, go and here. We have now learned 32 of our sight words, only 8 more to go.  Keep practicing the sight words at home as there are   hundreds of more sight words than just the 40 we learn.

Math:  2D shapes: Square and Triangle are the shapes we explored this week. We learned about vertices(corners) and sides of the shapes.  We drew, colored and wrote about the shapes.  We also made the shapes with playdough and saw the shapes in our classroom. Can you find the shapes at home.  We will continue 2D shapes next week.

Religion: Jesus gave us the Eucharist at the Last Supper.  We read the Bible story of the Last Supper and learned how Jesus shared a meal with the disciples.  We drew pictures of us sharing a meal with our family. We also learned how it is important to be present with our family and friends,  for example, when they are talking to us we listen, pay attention not be occupied with a toy or the TV.

Science:  We finished our unit on the weather by learning about natural resources of water, soil and rocks and how we can use them responsibly.

Next week we will be learning about St. Patrick’s Day and the season of Spring.
