February 21 Preschool News

We hope you enjoyed the Mid- Winter break with our days off school on Monday and Tuesday.

This week, we started practicing tracing curved lines in preparation for making letters that use curved lines. We also continued to practice number recognition, counting, and recognizing how many are in a group without counting. The older children even began some beginning addition by counting how many are in all when combing two groups of objects. We are also noticing rhyming words in our books, games, and everyday objects. Be sure to take some time to reinforce these skills at home.

Next month is March is Reading Month. To help us celebrate our love of books, parents are invited to come in and read a favorite book to the children either at the beginning of class or at the end of class. Please email me if you are interested in reading to the children to set up a date and time.

On Thursday, March 12, children are invited to dress up as the favorite book character.

Please mark your calendars for Friday, March 13- there is NO SCHOOL for teacher professional development.

Also, please note that our annual Preschool Literacy Morning is Saturday, March 21 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. The children will be acting out a story and doing a song. There will also be crafts and a snack to enjoy as a family. The children that attend will receive a book to celebrate March is Reading Month. Look for an invitation to come home soon.

Have a great weekend!
