The week started off like summer but felt more Fall-like at the end of the week with cooler temperatures and rainy days.

Please be sure to return the permission slips for our field trip to Post Family Farms. The field trip is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 21. Class will meet the regular time that day 8:15-11:15 a.m.

Picture Day is Tuesday, October 8. Please bring your child to the forum upon arrival to have their picture taken and then bring them to the classroom. If your child does not normally attend on Tuesday, you can either bring them in Tuesday morning just for the picture or wait until retake day which is Monday, Nov. 11.

This week in preschool we continued working on pre-writing skills with aiming and scribbling, focusing on using the proper grip. We practiced left to right progression and letter recognition using alphabet animal cards. The children also explored same and different by using descriptive words for objects such as squares and coins. We continued learning about apples by singing our apple songs, watching a video about apples and the apple orchard, and making apple prints with cut apples and paint. The children also worked on their fine motor skills making colorful coffee filters with eye droppers and liquid watercolor.

The children also visited the Atrium for the first time this week. In the Atrium, the children will participate in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program. It is a quiet, calm, and prayerful place where the children will listen to scripture from the Bible, sing, work with materials to learn the names of the items in church, as well as participate in practical life activities that not only strengthen fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination, but also teach the child to slow down their movements.
