The "Swanky Report" 9.20.19

What another amazing week of school for our preschoolers! Both morning and afternoon classes filled jar number 2 this week! That means we’re 3 jars away from an even bigger treat! YAY! Please send me an email at meganswank@dogrschools.org if your child has any allergies I need to be aware of for this treat! I’m so proud of how helpful, caring and encouraging our students are towards each other!

This Week:

Morning Preschool:

We started our weekly “Letter Exploration” with the letter “A!” We learned that “A” is for Alligator {be sure to ask your student the movements for it} and “A” is for Angel!

STREAM:

We learned about thermometers and what they’re used for! We also created our own thermometers. We also continued to work on color recognition and sorting.

Reminders:

  • Drop-off is a busy time! I know how difficult it can be to see our little ones cry, please be assured that as soon as you leave your little one is perfectly fine and has already jumped into an activity. We ask that parents drop-off and say goodbye at the door so that we are respecting the morning greeting time with each student and Mrs. Fickel and I. It’ll get easier!
  • Please remember to bring a water bottle each day to school.
  • As the weather continues to fluctuate in this odd time of year, please dress students appropriately. Ex. Sweater in the morning with a t-shirt underneath for the hot afternoons.

This Coming Week:

Morning Preschool:

  • Our students will continue with a “Letter Exploration” with the letter “B!” “B” is for Bee and “B” is for Butterfly!
  • There will be a fire drill Thursday morning. We have already started talking to our students about what this is, but please talk to them at home about what to do! We know how scary those alarms can be!

STREAM:

  • We will continue with our weather unit as we move into learning about the sun and its characteristics.

Songs:

Each day we start off with some songs to help us learn our ABC’s, Colors, about the weather and what we’re currently focusing on for the week. I’ll add these songs to the “Links & Resources” page as well for future use!
