Weekly Update 10-24

Dear Parents,
Special Person’s Day is November first from 8:30-11:00. We will celebrate by attending Mass at 8:45 and then return to the classroom for some activities and a snack. Thank you to those who have signed up to help at the All Saints’ Day party at the end of the day on November first. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great weekend!

Religion: This week we will look at how the multiplication of the loaves and fish is a foreshadow of the Last Supper and the Mass. We will also continue our research project on Saints.

Language Arts: This week, we will be reading I Wanna Iguana, a realistic fiction story about a boy who wants to get an iguana as a pet and how he tries to persuade his mother. As we read, we will be working on the comprehension skill of compare and contrast. In grammar, we will learn about singular and plural nouns.

Spelling: This week our spelling words will focus on words ending with le. The words for this week are handle, trouble, simple, people, middle, table, little, gentle, poodle, pickle, noodle, saddle, juggle, uncle, and riddle. Please keep the list in the student’s home folder for the entire week. We will be using it in class, and they should be studying it at home as well.

Math: This week, we will continue our exploration of multiplication. Please have your child study their facts for at least 5 minutes a day.

Social Studies: This week we will begin learning about government, what it means to have a representative government, and why we have laws.

Science: There will not be any science this week, as we are preparing for our field trip to Lansing and learning about the government.
