November = Winter

I guess winter weather is already here.  Please make sure to send to school winter weather outside clothing for outdoor recess.  We will  go outside.  We have been learning the order of putting on our winter gear: snow pants, boots, coat, hat, scarf and mittens.  Practice this order at home.  Don’t forget to send in shoes to wear at school.

Reminder to send in a Baptism picture for our Religion for next week. We will be gluing the picture in our Religion book.

Thanksgiving Food Drive Donations for Kindergarten are: mac and cheese, jelly and canned corn.

Reading: Bear Snores On is our story this week about a bear who hibernates in his cave for the winter.  We learned that this is a make believe or fantasy story as the animals made a fire in the cave while the bear slept and had popcorn and tea.  Ask your child what happened when the bear woke up.  Our letter is Cc, we discovered many words begin with a Cc or have a Cc in them.  Our sight words are: we, my like. Keep practicing all the sight words we have learned at home.  We learned about adjectives as describing a noun.

Math:  We began to learn about addition as putting together. We will be working on addition for the next few weeks.

Religion: Adam and Eve made a mistake and had a falling out with God. They created Original Sin. We drew a picture of a “falling”  we had.  We also learned how we can be comforted when we have a falling . We saw a picture of Jesus weeping.  Next week we will learn about the sacrament of Baptism.

Science:  The Five Senses: We learned about our sense of touch, by touching a variety of objects like a cotton ball for soft,  a balloon for stretchy.  We used our sense of smell and taste by smelling  six different jars of baby food and then we tasted them too.  We made predictions what we thought they were and then found out after.
