The "Swanky Report" 10.4.19

We finished our first month of preschool and our students are doing amazing in the progress they’ve shown each week! We are so proud of them! We’ve seen students opening up more through conversation, sharing and playing cooperatively with each other during centers and taking more risks to try new things!

This Week:

Preschool:

We continued our “Letter Exploration” with “C” is for Caterpillar (what a great piggy back to our “B” is for Butterfly”)! Our students took their own imaginations and used the materials in their own way…we LOVE dot paint by the way!

STREAM:

This week we learned about clouds! We did an experiment using whipped cream, water and food coloring to see how long our clouds would last!

“Nimbo cumulus clouds…are THUNDER CLOUDS! BOOM!!”

“Cumulus clouds…are EVERYDAY CLOUDS!”

Reminders:

  1. Picture Day is on Tuesday, October 8! Please take your students directly to the forum in the “D” Wing. Preschool’s slot will begin right at 8:00 p.m.
  2. The cold weather is here! Please make sure your child comes to school with a sweater and/or jacket! We will continue to go outside each day, unless it is raining!
  3. Our students are growing so much more confident in saying goodbye at the door and coming into class! Please remember that it’s harder for us than it is for them! As soon as they come into classroom they are great and go right to work! As a reminder and in compliance with the VIRTUS, we ask our parents to say goodbye at the door so as not to disrupt the work of other students already in the classroom.
  4. We will be conducting a classroom tornado drill on Thursday, October 10 for both Preschool and STREAM. Please talk to your students at home about what this is and what we do during this type of emergency. We will also be talking on Tuesday in class about this.

This Coming Week:

Preschool:

We will begin our “Shapes Exploration” with the circle and continue our “Letter Exploration” with “D” is for Dog!

STREAM:

We will continue with our weather unit and move onto wind.
