Third Grade News February 7

This Friday is our Valentine’s Party. If your child is bringing Valentine’s, please make sure they have one for all the students in the class- check your child’s folder for a list. Students may create their own containers for their Valentines and bring them to school on Friday. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Religion: This week we will learn how Jesus saves us from sin and death. Third grade will also be responsible for the readings at Mass this week, please join us if you are able to.

Language Arts: We will be reviewing the skills learned in the third unit of our reading series this week. We will also begin to write a research paper. All the research will be done in class. We will continue to learn the capital letters in cursive.

Spelling: We will be reviewing the words learned in the third unit of our reading series. The words for this week are change, crack, disappear, he’d, know, misspell, recall, thumb, climb, disagree, finally, I’d, let’s, quietly, safely, and you’ll.

Math: We will continue learning about fractions. We will learn how to find a fractional part of a group and how to draw diagrams to help solve word problems with fractions. Please continue to practice math facts for 5-10 minutes a day.

Social Studies: We will learn about the underground resources found in Michigan and how those resources brought more people to our state.

Science: We will learn about food chains and food webs. We will also learn about how changes in ecosystems affect the plants and animals living in those ecosystems.
