We had a great stretch of beautiful weather this week before the cooler temperatures rolled in.

It has been a busy week in preschool. We continue to practice 3 finger grip with aiming and scribbling-this week they colored fireworks. We also worked on fine motor skills by string beads on pipe cleaners. The children also started exploring patterns by making 1:1 or AB patterns with unifix cubes and sponge painting a pattern with colors and shapes. Our Thursday group was also able to take advantage of the great weather to look for patterns outside and inside the school.

This week is also Fire Safety Week. We read some books about fire fighters and practiced “Stop, Drop, and Roll”. We also practiced crawling on the floor under the smoke. This is a great time to practice a fire drill at home and be sure that you changed the batteries in your smoke detectors.

In the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, the children visited the Atrium and were presented with some of the practical life works such as spooning and pouring. The practical life works not only develop motor control but also help the child slow down their movements and to make their movements more deliberate.
