Welcome back!

Welcome back to school, 6th grade parents!

I am thrilled to be able to teach all of your children this year and cannot wait to get started!  I wanted to take a minute to briefly explain some of the things that you can expect this year from me.

Being in middle school this year, you can expect your child to see an increase in homework.  I provide class time to work on all assignments, and I very rarely have any assignments due the following day.  The following are regular assignments that you can expect to see every week (with some exceptions throughout the year):

-Vocabulary assignment: assigned Monday, due Thursday

-Global Studies Weekly newspaper: assigned Monday, due Thursday

-Nightly/Weekly reading: each student will have his own personal goal for his weekly reading assignment.  We will determine these goals within the first few days of school.  This page number goal will then be your child’s reading assignment for the week. The students may read a book of their choosing for this assignment, as I am hoping that they learn to see this not as homework, but as an opportunity to improve their reading skills.  I truly wish to cultivate a love of reading in my students and am excited to share my passion of reading with them.

This is just a very brief overview of what you can expect from me in 6th grade.  Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time with any questions or concerns.

Here’s to a great school year!

Tracy
