Weekly Update 11-1

Dear Parents,
Our field trip to Lansing is next Friday. Thank you to those who have returned the permission slip and have volunteered to join us. Students will need to bring a sack lunch – please make sure everything is disposable. They will also be wearing their uniforms as we are representing our school at the capitol. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great weekend!

Religion: This week we will learn about the mission that Jesus gave His disciples and how we are to continue fulfilling this mission.

Language Arts: This week, we will be reading Prudy’s Problem and How She Solved It, a realistic fantasy story about a girl who never throws anything away. As we read, we will be working on the comprehension skill of drawing conclusions. In grammar, we will learn about irregular plural nouns.

Spelling: This week our spelling words will be compound words. The words for this week are sunglasses, football, homework, haircut, popcorn, railroad, snowstorm, earring, scarecrow, blueberry, butterflies, lawnmower, campground, sandbox, and toothbrush. The spelling test will be on Thursday this week.

Math: This week, we will conclude our exploration of multiplication and use our knowledge of multiplication facts to find unknown factors.

Social Studies: This week we will continue learning about government. We will learn about the three branches of government and what each branch is responsible for doing.

Science: There will not be any science this week, as we are preparing for our field trip to Lansing and learning about the government.
