Welcome Back!

We had a great first week back from break! Next week, is the last week of the second quarter. Students will be rollerblading this next week as well. Please bring any helmets, pads, or skates you may have at home. They may leave them in their lockers. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Religion: This week we will take a deeper look at the Parable of the Good Samaritan and describe how through this Parable Jesus is teaching us to love everyone.

Language Arts: We will be reading Pushing Up the Sky. This is a myth about how something came to be in nature. As we read, we will be reviewing characters, setting, and plot. In grammar, we will learn about main verbs and helping verbs. We will also continue learning cursive letters.

Spelling: We will be working on making prefixes this week. The words for the week are unhappy, recall, disappear, unload, mistake, misspell, dislike, replace, mislead, disagree, rewrite, unroll, unknown, dishonest, dislike, react, and replace.

Math: We will continue learning the rules for dividing. This week we will learn the rules for dividing by 6, 7, 8, and 9. We will also learn some strategies to help us solve two-step problems. Please continue to practice math facts for 5-10 minutes a day.

Social Studies: We will continue learning about how Michigan became a state. We will look at what it was like to be a fur trader long ago and discover the changes that settlers made when they came to Michigan.

Science: We will continue learning about animals. We will learn how traits are inherited, learned, or acquired. We will also learn about the life cycles of different animals.
