What a beautiful stretch of weather we have been having! We were able to play outside all week in the warm sun.

Hopefully, you have been able to get your login information for the school website where the newsletters will be posted. I am awaiting confirmation of a couple field trips dates before sending out the preschool calendar. The school calendar with vacation dates should be on the school website if you are looking ahead to days off.

This week in preschool, we continued practicing some pre-writing skills with straight line and curved wood pieces. We used the wood pieces to practice positional words such as up, down, top, bottom, etc. and added vocabulary vertical, horizontal, and diagonal. We also practiced “reading” left to right by pointing to the letters of the alphabet while singing the ABC song.

We also did a book study this week on the book Mouse Count. Since this was a counting book, we also integrated some math concepts. The children estimated the number of mice in a jar, we counted them together, and counted backwards. We read and reread the story using props such as stuffed mice, a snake puppet, and a jar. The children also glued pictures of mice onto a jar and counted the number of mice- count the mice with them at home as well. I will begin to send home this book unit with the children so that the story can be retold with the family. Please be patient for your as we take turns sending home this book bag unit and be sure to return all of the pieces.

We our enjoying our time with the children- we hope they are off to a positive start of school.

October 8- Picture Day! Order forms will be sent home soon. If your child does not attend this day, you may bring them in on that day or wait until retake day which is November 11.
