The "Swanky" Report 10.18.19

Can you believe we’re already halfway through the month and almost a quarter of the way through the school year? It’s crazy how fast time flies when you’re having fun… and boy, are we having fun in preschool!

This Week:

Preschool:

  • We learned that “E” is for Earth! …and eggs, elephants, eraser, envelope and eight!
  • The students were able to share the items they brought from home during our Show ‘n Tell on Thursday morning! This part of the week helps our students learn how to communicate with others and to listen as our classmates share.
  • We also learned more about the number 2. We did a craft and listened to Dr. Seuss’ “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.” We’ve hung up these crafts on the classroom door for everyone to see when they pass by the Preschool room!

STREAM:

  • We practiced writing our numbers 1-10 on popsicle sticks so we can use them in another activity this coming week in Math!
  • We’re so excited for the snow to come that we decided to make our own snow in a jar! Students were sent home with mason jars of baby oil, water, white paint and glitter. This experiment can be repeated at home by dropping in 1 tablet of Alka Seltzer. If you’d like to re-create this experiment at home in the future you can get the directions from One Little Project.

Reminders:

  1. Picture Retakes will be on November 11, 2019
  2. The colder weather is here, please send your students to school with the proper outdoor clothing so they are warm when they go outside for recess.
  3. Our students run around and play a lot throughout the day, please remember to bring a water bottle with them to school each day so they can stay hydrated.
  4. Remember that we cannot assist your child when going to the bathroom. Please remember to send them to school with pants they can easily pull on and off themselves so we can avoid any accidents.
  5. There will be a substitute in class on October 29th and 31st. I’ve already started talking to the students about this so that they aren’t surprised when they come that week to school. Please remind them of this so that it doesn’t put them off their routine. Mrs. Fickel will still be here to assist those days.
  6. Our Harvest Party is on October 31st! If you haven’t done so already, please sign-up for any party donations.
  7. If you have signed up to bring anything, please bring them in the morning when you drop off your student.

This Coming Week:

Preschool:

  • We will be continuing on our letter exploration with the letter “F.”
  • Please bring something that begins with the letter “F” on Tuesday for Show ‘n Tell!
  • We will also pick up with our shape exploration with the square.

STREAM:

  • We will be exploring the changing of seasons as we take a walk around our campus to explore the different colors we see around us.
  • We will continue with our number recognition and popsicle sticks.
