Third Grade News February 28

This week we will be having our Lenten Retreat on Monday morning. We will also have Reconciliation on Wednesday and Adoration on Friday. We are still looking for family members to read to the class during the month of March. If you are interested, please contact me. We will also be doing our first vote for our March Book Madness. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Religion: This week we will learn more about the Sacrament of Reconciliation and how Jesus gave us the Sacrament.

Language Arts: This week we will be reading the story The Man Who Invented Basketball. This is a nonfiction story about how James Naismith created basketball. In grammar, we will be working on singular and plural pronouns. We will also be learning about generalizations.

Spelling: This week in spelling we will be learning how to make irregular plural nouns. The words for this week are wolves, knives, feet, men, children, women, sheep, heroes, scarves, mice, geese, wives, elves, banjos, and halves.

Math: We will conclude our chapter on comparing and ordering fractions. Please continue to practice math facts for 5-10 minutes a day.

Social Studies: We will continue learning about how Michigan grew as a state. We will learn about how more advances in transportation brought jobs to Michigan.

Science: We will compare and contrast our novel Food Chain Frenzy to the Magic School Bus episode. We will also complete an activity on food chains and food webs.
