Third Grade News – November 22

This week and next week, we will continue swimming lessons. Please join us on December 5th at the Aquatic Center from 9:10-9:45 so your child can show you what they have learned. Due to swimming lessons, Mass on Tuesday, November 26th will be at 1:00. Mass on Wednesday, December 4th will be at the regular time of 8:45. Please let me know if you have any questions. Religion: This week we will continue to explore the Two Great Commandments and begin to look at how our bodies are Temples of the Holy Spirit.

Language Arts: This week, we will be reviewing the skills we have learned in the second unit of our reading series. After Thanksgiving, we will begin a novel study using the story Winter According to Humphrey.

Spelling: Our spelling words will be review words from the second unit in our reading series. The words are pilot, poodle, weather, lemon, pitcher, pickle, nephew, tulip, popcorn, uncle, square, noodle, salad, father, blueberry, athlete, earring, and pupil. The spelling test will be on Friday, December 6th.

Math: We will continue learning about division. We will relate division to repeated subtraction and look at how multiplication and division are related. Please continue to practice math facts for 5-10 minutes a day.

Social Studies: There will not be any social studies this week due to swimming.

Science: We will begin our study of how plants grow and change. We will learn how text features help us to understand what we are reading in informational texts.
