Third Grade Update – November 14

Dear Parents,
This week we begin swimming lessons. Students are able to bring goggles with them to the Aquatic Center if needed. Girls need to have their hair up in a ponytail or braids. Due to swimming lessons, Mass this week will be at 1:00 on Wednesday. As the weather is getting colder, please make sure students are coming to school with warm coats, hats, and gloves. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great weekend!

Religion: This week we will look more deeply into the Ten Commandments and the Two Great Commandments. We will explore how the Commandments teach us to love God and our neighbors.

Language Arts: This week, we will be reading Amazing Bird Nests, an expository text that gives facts and details on how some birds build their nests. As we read, we will be working on the comprehension skill of finding the Main Idea and Details. In grammar, we will learn about plural possessive nouns.

Spelling: This week our spelling words will be words with consonant digraphs (sh, th, ph, ch, tch, ng). The words for this week are father, chapter, other, alphabet, watch, English, weather, catch, fashion, shrink, pitcher, flash, athlete, trophy, nephew. The spelling test will be on Friday this week.

Math: This week, we will begin learning about division.

Social Studies: There will not be any social studies this week due to swimming.

Science: This week, we will conclude our chapter on forces and motion. We will learn about balanced and unbalanced forces as well as how gravity affects motion.
